After Kaoru and Yahiko talk with Hiko about Kenshin’s actions as wanderer, Hiko accepts to teach Kenshin the strongest move from the Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryū’. While Kaoru, Yahiko and Misao return to Kyoto, Kaoru tells Misao all what happened with Aoshi in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Shishio meets Aoshi and requests him to join forces to kill Kenshin. Knowing that the Oniwabanshū are helping Kenshin, Aoshi asks Okina where is Kenshin. As Okina negates to answer, both fight, and Aoshi almost kills Okina. Misao finds Okina knocked at the end of the fight, and remains shocked. While Okina is resting, Misao decides to be new leader from the Oniwabanshū to defeat Shishio even though it would mean killing Aoshi. In a prison from Kyoto, Saitō finds Sanosuke, and both ask Chō what are Shishio’s plans. Chō reveals to them that Shishio plans to conquer Japan by starting a fire in Japan, but warns them of the power from the Juppongatana.
